We are going to learn about the Native American Tribe. Like the Lenape Tribe for an example.
THE MOCK TRIALS HAS BEGUN IN SOCIAL STUDIES ROOM.-10/21/14
What is an mock trial?
A mock trial is a fake trial. Mock trials is a mimic of a real trial.
Mock trials are now coming our way. With the help of our group (Assigned) we need to prove or defend our case. My group has to defend Andrew Jackson. This is going to be tough.-10/22/14
Case brief due next Monday on your mock trial. Rough draft due 3/14 on this Wednesday. 11/3/14
What is a case brief?
A case brief is almost like a persuasive essay on your mock trial topic and you are going to try to persuade the judge by using facts that can be found in exhibits, affidavits, and documents. In this unit everyone is required to make one.
Role prep
We got our roles that we will have to play in the mock trial. I am lead attorney, which is a lot of work since I have to doing opening statement and closing statement. I can't argue so there is no fun for me. I would rather be cross examiner, the person that asks questions.
All of the hard work pays off at the end!
The day of our trial has arrived. Friday and Monday. As lead attorney I can't let my fellow teammate lose. So i worked really hard and we won ! Andrew Jackson is found not guilty by the jury ! YAY !
NEW ASSIGNMENT
The mock trial unit is now over. Now a new assignment has came. Each student makes there own persuasive speech on a revolution.
We created a mini speech on a historic figure in the Revolutionary War
My mini speech.
Through day and night, with a pen in his hand, John Adams was writing up a storm. Not to finish a homework assignment, but to assist his country to gain independence. He should have a place in the Revolutionary Hall of Fame because he was an essential figure in the Revolutionary War. He became a respected leader throughout his community. Adams is well known for his essays and ideas. In “John Adams” by Jane Runyon, he illustrates this by writing how he uses his essays and ideas by attacking the acts. His words were well known throughout the colonies. More than that, he went to France to guide his country in the war and helped make peace. According to “John Adams Second president” by Mike Venezia it displays this by stating “John Adams was asked to travel to France and ask for its help in fighting the British. John spent almost ten years in Europe finding ways to aid his new American Country. He eventually helped work out the peace agreement that ended the Revolutionary War” This is important to think about because John Adams used ten years to support his country to win, and he has done this by settling on a peace treaty. Although many would call him a traitor for helping the soldiers in the Boston Massacre, by being their lawyer. What he did was not wrong. He sets America in a good course by showing that everyone gets a fair trial and everyone gets justice, this was important. John Adams was significant to the revolution, and therefore John Adams deserves to have a place of honor in the Revolution Hall of Fame.
